Configuring a Sony SNC-EP520 IP Camera

This camera sends and stores data over IP. Cadwell requires a direct connection from the camera to either an onboard network card on the acquisition PC or to a USB/ethernet adapter on the acquisition PC.

1. Mount the camera to either the ceiling or cart bracket. Refer to drawing 198226-622 for general configuration information.
2. If cart based: Connect the power, wire the Cat 5 or 6 cable from the LAN port on the bottom of the camera to the ethernet port on the computer or to the port on a USB/ethernet adapter on the computer.
If remotely installed: Wire the Cat 5 or 6 cable from the LAN port on the bottom of the camera to the PWR LAN-OUT input on the power over ethernet adapter. Wire the power to an outlet. Wire a second Cat 5 or 6 cable from the LAN-IN input on the power over ethernet adapter to either an ethernet port on the computer or the port on a USB/ethernet adapter on the computer.Insert the supplied CD-ROM disc into your CD drive. Click on the SncToolbox folder, run the SncToolbox_Setup.exe by double clicking on it.
4. Find SNC Toolbox in the programs list and double click. When program launches, click on the Search button.
5. Select the desired camera for that acquisition system from the list and click on the Network button. *note: this utility will find all Sony IP networked cameras available to that PC, always confirm that you are configuring the correct camera for that acquisition PC.
6. Enter admin for name and password.
7. Choose Use the following IP address and configure the IP address as 192.168.21.11 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Leave everything else unchanged. Click OK.8. Go to Network Adapters on the PC from the Control Panel and choose the network adapter being used for the camera. Double click on the network adapter and click on properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and choose Use the following IP address and configure the IP address as 192.168.21.1 and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. Leave everything else unchanged. Click OK.
9. Open a browser and type http//192.168.21.11 in the address bar. The video should be visible in the browser. At this point a prompt may appear asking to install an add on, allow this to occur.
10. Launch Easy III and verify that the camera is available as a video source in the Q-Video Settings dialog.

Setting the orientation for this camera
By default, this camera is configured to be ceiling mounted. However, if this camera is installed on a cart, it will typically be installed in the opposite orientation. Following are the instructions to flip the orientation of the camera, this is a one time configuration that needs to occur if the camera is not being mounted in a ceiling mounted orientation as shown in the image above.
1. After launching the Sony camera IP address in the browser, click on Setup
2. Enter admin for user name and password
3. Click on System
4. Click on the Installation tab
5. Select On for Eflip (on setting is for when the camera is NOT in a ceiling mounted orientation, for example on the camera pole on the trolley cart)

Setting up Camera Resolution for utilization of Low Light Optimization (Easy III Only)
*note: this setting is typically used for recordings that are going to be primarily recorded in very low light conditions.
1. After launching the Sony camera IP address in the browser, click on Setup
2. Enter admin for user name and password
3. Click on Camera
4. Click on the Video codec tab
5. Select 320 x 240 for Image size.
6. Click OK to apply this setting. Now low light optimization will be effective in the software. This setting should only be used for situations where the light level is low for the majority of the study and the IR light is not sufficient.
